The Enhancing Student Research (ESR) initiative is intended to increase student engagement in undergraduate research as early as the first year by:
- Promoting early student exposure and engagement in research activities through faculty and peer mentor outreach
- Supporting curriculum development via an Engaged Department Model embedding student research skills across the curriculum and
- Providing opportunities for team-based faculty development through participation in the Council on Undergraduate Research trainings to design new student research activities and experiences.
Enhancing Student Research Activities
Research Peer Mentors engage in the following activities:
- One-on-one Peer Mentoring: meet with 91ÊÓƵ students 1:1 during peer mentor drop-in hours
- Proactive Outreach: participate in campus events to share information about student research opportunities
- Student Research Interventions: facilitate workshops, provide information, engage in student research-related activities
- Social Media Marketing & Outreach: provide up-to-date information using Student Research social media platforms
