In collaboration with all CSU campuses, the Chancellor鈥檚 Office has delivered a web-based information security awareness training course designed to provide staff and faculty the information they need to secure information resources entrusted to the University. This course will help 91视频 employees safeguard personal information as well as information stored under the aegis of the University.
The awareness training course covers the following topics:
- Protecting yourself against malware and other threats
- Keeping your email and mobile devices secure
- Coming up with a strong password you won't forget
- The care and management of confidential information
- How to avoid becoming a victim of social engineering
- Guidelines for surfing the web safely
All Channel Islands employees have been enrolled in the information security awareness training. The as well as other laws and regulations require that 鈥All employees with access to protected data and information assets must participate in appropriate information security awareness training.鈥 The course is managed by Information Technology Services and is delivered by Skillport. Instructions on how to take the training will come in an email from TrainingNotifications@calstate.edu.

Who? | All CSU, Channel Islands employees have been enrolled in the 鈥淒ata Security & Privacy鈥 and "FERPA & Protecting Education" training. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty, staff, administrators, graduate assistants, student assistants and anyone with an 鈥渁ctive鈥 status in CI Records. |
What? | The course titled 鈥淒ata Security & Privacy鈥 provides information security awareness training intended to help CSU employees identify sensitive information (hard copy or electronic), and to provide awareness of common cyber-security threats such as SPAM and Phishing. The course titled "FERPA & Protecting Education" provides training on how to address confidentiality of student information. |

Frequency? | Annually, or as defined by CSU or campus policy. |
