Nov. 6, 2024
Dear Campus Community:
The campus remains safe but due to severe disruptions from the Mountain Fire and significant impacts on several members of our campus community, President Yao has decided to cancel classes on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7 and 8 and to close campus operations. Additionally, Monday, Nov. 11 is a campus holiday in observance of Veterans Day. We will return to classes and full campus operations on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
While the campus will be closed the remainder of this week and no in-person student services will be available, designated University personnel will be asked by their supervisor to report to the campus as needed to provide essential support services for our residential students.
If you had any planned meetings or events scheduled for the next couple days with external guests visiting the campus, please make sure to notify them of the campus closure.
We recommend that you continue to keep abreast of local conditions for Ventura County by visiting the website.
We ask that our campus community continue to support each other and ask that you seek support from campus services or resources as noted below:
- Counseling & Psychological Services CAPs (students)
- Disaster Relief Funds through Ekho Your Heart program (students and employees)
- Emergency Housing (students)
- Employee Assistance Program (employees)
