The Climate Corps members support the Center for Community Engagement and the Office of Sustainability to foster a culture of care between people and the Earth through the promotion of sustainable living strategies and connecting 91ÊÓƵ students to programs focused on issues of sustainability (e.g., food waste recycling program on campus to reduce environmental impact and help curb climate change). They are also members of the Sustainability Working Group, representing students on university-wide initiatives.
Applicants must:
- be a current 91ÊÓƵ undergraduate student
- make a one-year commitment
- serve a maximum of 200 hours (~6 hours/wk)
- Pay rate: $20.00 an hour

Alexa Palafox
Alexa Palafox is a junior, majoring in Communication, with an emphasis on Environmental Communication and minoring in Chicano/a Studies. She will be serving with the Sustainability Office to organize major events like Coastal Cleanup Day and roll out the new Adopt-A-Spot program. She’ll also help create social media content to promote sustainable practices that students, faculty, and their families can easily incorporate into their daily routines. Alexa believes it’s important to be involved in the community because we take so much from it. By being involved in the community, our actions allow us to become closer in community with each other.
